Principal of Roddensvale School Mr John Madden said:
“We are delighted with the support shown by Premier Power and the Larne Athletics Club for our work here in Roddensvale. The money raised will allow us to enrich the pupils experience at Roddensvale through excursions, treats or extra items of equipment not covered under normal budgets. Extra funds are always welcome and can make a big difference to the life of the school.”
XYZ of Larne RNLI Lifeboats also thanked the race organisers and sponsors:
“RNLI volunteers perform a vital service keeping people safe all along the Antrim coast. We couldn’t provide this vital service without the continued support of the public and events like the Larne Half Marathon. Many of our own volunteers got involved as marshalls on the day and I know the event was a great success.”
Premier Power Communications Manager Barbara Stevenson added:
“The Larne Half Marathon is part of Premier Power’s wider community programme and it’s definitely one of our annual highlights. We are proud to support the Larne Half Marathon for the sixth year in a row, particularly since this year it was able to help organisations which both make a real contribution to the local community.”
Race organiser and Chairman of Larne Athletics Club, Andy Gregg, who performed the starters duties at the race said:
“This year was our biggest ever in terms of entries and it is clear that the event’s reputation is growing both in competitive running circles across Northern Ireland and among those who just want a fun day out to enjoy. I’d like to thank all those who came along to support the event and our charity partners.
“I hope that we’ll have an even bigger turn out next year and I’d encourage people to get the 2010 race into their diaries now, and use it as a target to help get fit and active.”
